San Antonio Student Wins Competition

Ace Gonzalez, a sophomore at The Culinary Institute of America’s San Antonio campus, won the $3,000 Signature Dish prize for her dish, Mole Pipian with Pork Belly, at the finals of the S. Pellegrino Almost Famous Chef competition held at the Greystone campus over the weekend.
She was one of 10 culinary students from around the U.S. and Canada who had won their regional competitions to earn a shot for the grand prize, and one of only three finalists to win any of the competitions held during the three-day final.
(The overall winner also won the People’s Choice Award, and a 2nd finalist earned the online Fan Favorite Award and Mystery Basket Award.)
