In a sign that the food world is leading the economic recovery, 881 recruiters attended career fairs at the Hyde Park campus in 2012, an all-time record for the CIA—and this figure does not include those who come to campus individually, independent of the career fairs. In addition, 63 new companies recruited at CIA career fairs for the first time in 2012—another record.

The CIA holds four career fairs each year in Hyde Park, where chefs and human resources managers actively seek recent and soon-to-be CIA graduates for positions across the spectrum of the industry, representing a wide range of jobs in kitchens and dining rooms and on management tracks. They include fine-dining restaurants, bakeries, hotels and resorts, country clubs, casual dining chains, caterers, supermarkets, healthcare and educational institutions, research and development companies, airport concessions, and corporate dining, just to name a few.

Industry organizations are already forecasting strong sales and industry growth for 2013. Nation’s Restaurant News forecasts foodservice industry sales to hit a record $660 billion next year.
