Alumni Share Their Careers in Food Media
The Hyde Park campus hosted eight alumni who work in media for a panel discussion about careers in food media and communications. Jennifer Armentrout ’97, freelance editor; Kersti Bowser ’01, owner, Gourmet Butterfly Media and food stylist; Sarah Carey ’94, food editor, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia; Erin McDowell ’07, food stylist, writer/editor, Food52.com and PureWow.com; Sara Moulton ’77, author and host of Sara’s Weeknight Meals; Todd Coleman ’98, owner, Delicious Contents; Patrick Decker ’05, digital content manager, Scripps Network Interactive; and Andrew Kaplan ’02, director, Rachael Ray’s Yum-o! organization.
These successful graduates were thrilled to return to their alma mater to share their insights about food media careers with the hundreds of interested students and staff who were in attendance.
The road to success in media was not an easy or direct one for any of our panellists so their honest descriptions and advice were immensely useful to our students in helping them understand the realities of careers in today’s ever-changing media market.
